technology is for the birds!!

Hey everyone! Its been forever it seems since i last wrote a blog but Ill have to make up for it!
I got this really facinating new phone that I love minus a few minor complications. Its an hp ipaq.. and its way bigger than my old krazor like phone. its pretty much a mini computer that has a touch screen and a whole bunch of fancy doo dads that i dont know how to use!!! Why I would ever buy a phone like this is beside me because I am as techonlogically retarded as they come! I keep doing something wrong and every now and again I send out jibberish when I send out text messages (so if this happens to you I apologise!) so my newest mission is to figure that all out! im sure in a month or three ill finally get the hang of this new fangled peice of machinery.

The mass majority of my support system (both sets of my girlies grand parents) are now back from their vacation! they all went on a week long cruise to Montego Bay jamaica, Grand Caymon, and, Cozumel Mexico!!! lucky buggers!! I was excited to get to see all of their really great pictures! and the video of stingray city!! I have never laughed so hard!! but they all seemed to have a really great time which is something that they all needed!!! Oh yeah and my mom and dad brought me back a bottle of Jamaican Creamed rum!! (which i love by the way) Its so good! I was really excited because we cant get it here and its really really delicious! I decided that night we were gonna watch pirates of the carribean and drink some rum! ha!! three shots later i was feelin a bit woozy and slept like a baby! I forgot how much stronger it is!

Salon Rage

So as I have said before i work at Salon Rage in Washington, Iowa, a Hip little salon that is up with all the current trends, and is a fun, funky, festive place to get all the new styles that you are just dying to get!!!! I work with some amazing people there!!!! They are always comming up with great things to talk about, and we laugh alot!!! They are really AMAZING at what they do! Walter is the Owner, also a stylist, He is truly FAMOUS around these parts!! If Washington had its own holly wood, it would totally revolve around him!! Megan is really great too!!! she is an awesome stylist! She also works in Iowa City so we only get to be graced with her presence part time. I am probably the most mellow of the group and tend to be the quietest. Then there is Stephanie. Stephanie is also a stylist but she was imported from minneapolis (lol), and just does her friends hair and fills in when we need her!!! thanks for that!!!! She is Also Walters personal assistant (i told you its totally like holly wood here!!!) she keeps him orginized!!!!But when business comes to business we are the people you should see!!!! COME VISIT US!!!!

My Monday Mission

Hello all! I hope you are all having a fabulous day!!!! Today is the second day of my weekend ( as a cosmetologist, my weekends consist of Sundays and Mondays), I tend to do as little as possible on sundays, or dedicate them as my fun-run days so I can catch up with friends, or be as lazy as I want to and it doesn't matter, but mondays, mondays are my get shit done that I dont really want to do days(ie. cleaning, laundry, errands, any other not so fun activity). That being said: I have been sick the last few days and havent felt like doing a gosh darn thing. and my lord does it show!!! I shouldnt really say that. because I did clean (like really cleaned! dusted, and did all the down and dirty things) my living room, and kitchen on saturday which seemed like even more work since I was so sick. but now that I am feeling better its time to tackle the rest of the house. I desperately need to clean poor kdks room! It flippin looks like a tornado came, and stayed for a week and a half. The poor kid! she tries to help. I am usually pretty adament about putting things away when she is done with them, but this week has been really bad. I tell her, and she kinda half asses it, but I simply was too sick to even care how well she had done cleaning up. So I just let it slide. ha(wrong move numero uno)!!! well four days of letting it slide has turned into the pit of disaster, and now I must reap the consequences!! dum dum dum.... So I am off to endure the two hours of mini toys, crayons ,markers, barbies, stuffed animals, and dress up clothes. IT WILL GET DONE!!!!!!! I also have a bunch of laundry to do! goodness!! Anyone who knows me knows that I absoutely hate hate hate laundry! it is a seriously rare ocassion when all of my laundry is done at the same time! Today I only have four loads that need to be done, which is pretty darn good for me. The catch on that though is that my dryer is malfunctioning and been out of commision now for a while so I either take my laundry to my parents and do it (which is a lot of extra work), or i can wash it and let everything air dry. And I do believe for today i will choose the air dry! Im also on a mission to clean my bathroom which only really takes about 15 min total, so we will save that one for last I think..... On a good note! I did get my errands done this morning, and they are all out of the way!! GO me!!!!!!

Ok, so as mother I have picked up a few tips to pass on to new, and future parents, and for today I can totally pass on a few of them!!!
1. If you are missing any thing...... look in your childs room (cleaning i found, my nail file... haven't seen it for a week at least, my watch.. i never wear it because i dont like it but it has sentimental value so i keep it, my chapstick... thank god!!!!!!)
2. Disney's little princess dolls that come with the rubber clothes are the DEVIL!!!!!
3. Barbies have more clothes than any person i know
4.Mr. Potato Head never goes out of style!!!!! he is bunches of fun!!!!
5. You will become the master of tangles and knots!!! (my kid can get anything into a knot!)

Two hours later and my house is clean (minus the bedroom, but its pretty much used as a closet anyway. we rarely sleep there.. not sure why the bed is amazingly comfy but I guess my couches are even better, but I'm still working on laundry. Its all down hill from here!!!! yay!!! my "(not so much) funday monday" went rather smoothly and I can say that I feel quite satisfied with my accomplishments for the day!!!

Im really liking the blog thing and wish I would have picked it up sooner! My life seems alittle bit more fun when Im writing about it!!! I really cant wait till something really fun comes along and I get to blog about it!!!!! EXCITING!!!!!!! I am off to color with kdk! she is pretty excited that mom found all of her colors!!!!!!

Getting started

HEY EVERYONE!!! I have had a few people tell me that I should start a blog..... so to all of you,, your wish is my command. I have never had a blog before this so it ought to be a really fun exciting experience and you will have to bear with me while i get it all figured out! I always have lots of fun exciting stories to tell and am excited to get to share them with you!!!

A little about myself... my name is of course Ashley Kay Carvin!!! WOO WOO! i am a 24yr old single mother of a beautiful 4yr old named KADENCE! ( more on her in just a few!!) I live in Fairfield Iowa, an interesting (to say the least), diverse (definately that!), cultural little town of 11,000ish.. for those of you who know of Fairfield, I am not a roo!!!! I have lived here for a bout 6 years now! gosh it doesnt seem that long! wow!! I live with my daughter kdk and our roomate Amy!!! Amy is a sweet heart and is exceptionally easy to live with(thats me and her in the pic)!!!! I work in Washington at Salon Rage as a stylist. I have been there since october and I love going there because it is a really fun place to be! you should check it out sometime!!! My parents live in brighton which is smack inbetween fairfield and washington so I get to see them quite regularly!! which is a good thing because im a sucker for my family!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!! I have two brothers, one older- Ray (but i dont claim him most of the time, im sure ill get into that later on down the road), and one younger- Dustin ( he is the most amazing lil fella i have ever met!!! hes a bundle of fun!!!!! more details to come!). I have a close knit group of friends who I talk to everyday!!! they are all different and each one has a uniquness that none of the others have but each are special to me in their own sweet little way and I love them all equally!!! There are so many things i like to do its hard to narrow down. I am usually willing to try anything atleast once. I am terrified of snakes, and I dont care for spiders but those I can at least handle. So I guess you could say that I have ISSUES with things that have too many legs and things that dont have enough!

Now on to Kdk!!!! Kadence Diana Kay ( notice the initials!!! ha ha.. get it!) is four years old! she was born november 12, 2004! Singlehandedly the longest, most painful day of my life!!!!!( but it was worth it!)!!!!! she is hum....... how do you describe the little miss??? well i guess you could say she is energetic? nah, spunky? that doesnt seem to fit either.. A FLAMING BALL OF SPAZTIC ENERGY???? seems to fit quite nicely! She is most definately full of energy! wow she keeps me busy!! she is fun though! sometimes she doesnt listen to me (ok alot of the time) and she loves to push her limitations but, she is a fun little squirt and I love her more than life itself. she has blonde hair and blue eyes. she is really tall for her age ( she gets that from Andrew, her dad) and she is sharp as a whistle. she has had one constant BFF since she has been young! Kaisen! she loves him!!! It just cracks me up! sometimes they go a while with out seeing each other and they still talk about each other. those two are a hoot!!!! She will tell you that she has two houses one white one with a white door (that would be her dads) and one blue one with a white door( that would be mine) she gets confused sometimes about her dad and I but then totally gets some of the other points. She is a mommas girl and a daddys girl and likes to play both sides( or at least tries). Her father and I get along most of the time and can joke around and have a civil relationship, then on other days we cant stand eachother and dont get along at all. Her dad is very important to her and I love that she loves spending time with him. She is blessed with outstanding Grandparents! so naturally she is spoiled spoiled spoiled... My parents are Gwandma kim and gampa ray, and Andrews parents are Gwandma betty and poppa david.. they just adore her and she has the strange ability to sucker them in to anything! it is almost an art form!!! but her poppa david! wow she has him wrapped around her little finger! goodness! I most definately cant wait for summer so we can go to the park and go swimming, and do more of the fun things she likes to do that we cant do in the winter.
